Guide
How often should you get a haircut?
There is no single correct schedule—hair grows at different speeds and styles lose their shape at different rates. These ranges help you plan walk-in visits.
Men’s short styles
Faded or tapered cuts with tight sides often look best with a visit every three to four weeks. If you keep more length on top and softer sides, four to six weeks is common. Buzz cuts may need a refresh every two to three weeks if you like a crisp, even length.
Women’s cuts
Short and chin-length shapes usually benefit from maintenance every six to eight weeks to preserve the line around the face and neck. Longer layers might stretch to eight to twelve weeks if you are growing length and only need dusting on ends—ask the stylist what makes sense for your cut.
Children’s haircuts
Kids’ hair can grow quickly. Many families come in every four to six weeks during active growth, or before school pictures and sports seasons. Regular small trims can be easier than waiting until a cut feels overdue.
Signs it is time
- Sides or neckline look uneven compared with the top.
- Hair covers your ears or collar more than you prefer.
- Styling takes longer because weight has grown back in.
- Beard growth makes a shaped haircut look less balanced (see beard trim timing below).
Beard trims between haircuts
A dedicated beard trim can bridge longer gaps between full haircuts. Every two to four weeks is typical if you keep defined cheek and neck lines.
